One-Off Tasks

Enable Notifications First!

Important: When Flockstar prompts you to enable notifications, allow them. Task reminders are sent to your phone only with permission. You can change this anytime in your device notification settings.

3. Creating Your First Tasks

Getting started with tasks is simple. Use the orange + button from the tasks screen to create both one-off reminders and recurring series.

Creating a One-Off Task

Tap the orange action button ("+") from the Tasks screen
Enter a clear title: "Check broody hen in Coop A"
Add description if needed for additional details
Select category (Health, Chore, Collection, etc.)
Set due date when you want to be reminded
Save the task and wait for your notification

Setting Up Recurring Series

Create a new task using the orange + button
Enter task details like title, description, and category
Press on Step 2 to set up the recurrence pattern
Choose recurrence pattern: Daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly
Set start date when the series should begin
Optional end date if the series has a natural conclusion
Save to create the series - individual instances will appear on schedule

4. Managing Recurring Task Series

Recurring series create individual task instances on schedule, but life happens! Flockstar gives you flexibility to skip instances or mark them complete as needed.

Managing Tasks with the 3-Dot Menu

Just like everywhere else in Flockstar, use the 3-dot "More" menu next to any task to access additional actions like Edit, Delete, or Skip. This consistent pattern makes task management intuitive once you learn it.

When you set up hatching runs in Flockstar, the app automatically creates convenient task reminders for all the critical milestones in the incubation process.

• Lockdown alerts - day 18 for chickens
• Hatch date notifications - day 21 for chickens

Common Task Management Questions

"I'm not getting task notifications - what's wrong?"

Check that you've enabled notifications when Flockstar prompted you. If you declined initially, you can enable them in your phone's Settings > Notifications > Flockstar. Also ensure Flockstar has permission to send push notifications.

"Can I modify a recurring series after creating it?"

Yes! You can edit the series pattern, change categories, or adjust timing. Individual instances that haven't occurred yet will reflect your changes, while completed instances remain unchanged.

"What happens if I skip too many recurring tasks?"

Nothing bad! Skipping instances doesn't break the series - it just continues on schedule. This flexibility is designed for real life where schedules change and things come up.

"How do I organize tasks for different flocks?"

Use clear naming and descriptions in your tasks to stay organized. For example: "Clean Coop A waterers" or "Check Breeding Pen pullets for mites" The category system and good task titles help you manage activities across multiple flocks and groups.
