1. Understanding Flockstar's Breeding Structure

Flockstar's breeding system combines advanced flock organization with detailed member relationships. You can track individual parent relationships, breeding pen assignments, or both together for maximum flexibility.

Common Breeding Scenarios

• Pen breeding: Set sire (the rooster) + breeding flock ("Breeding Pen A")
• Pair breeding: Set both dam and sire for specific pairings
• Group breeding: Just set breeding flock for general pen tracking
• Complex programs: Use all three — dam, sire, and breeding flock

2. Setting Up Parent Birds

Before you can assign parents to offspring, you need to designate which birds are available as breeding parents. This important step ensures only appropriate birds appear in your dam and sire selection lists.

Making a Bird "Available as Parent"

1. Open the bird's profile by tapping on their name
2. Tap the 3-dot "More" menu and select "Edit Member"
3. Navigate to the "Lineage" step in the profile editor
4. Check the "Available as Parent" box
5. Save the changes - this bird now appears in parent selection lists

3. Assigning Parentage to Offspring

Once you have parent birds set up, you can assign parentage when adding new birds or editing existing ones. Choose the approach that matches your breeding program complexity.

Setting Dam and Sire

1. Add a new bird or edit an existing member
2. Go to the "Lineage" section in the member editor
3. Select Dam: Choose the mother from birds marked "Available as Parent"
4. Select Sire: Choose the father from available parent birds
5. Set Breeding Flock: Optionally assign to a breeding flock/pen
6. Save the member with complete lineage information

1. Go to any bird's profile that has parentage assigned
2. Tap the 3-dot "More" menu on their profile
3. Select "Lineage" from the menu options
4. Explore the family tree - see parents, grandparents, and relationships
5. Navigate the tree by tapping on other family members

Viewing Breeding Flock Offspring

1. Navigate to your Flocks screen
2. Find your breeding flock (e.g., "Breeding Pen A")
3. Tap the 3-dot "More" menu next to the flock name
4. Select "Offspring" from the menu options
5. View all birds assigned to that breeding flock
